I am excited that Dr. Ayuk Ausaji Ayuk has provided the global Church an African theology of missions from a rich African perspective. I am familiar with Dr. Ayuk’s work in Africa and around the world. We have worked together for several years on various projects on theological education and ministerial development in Africa. He is a professor at the Asian Seminary of Christian Ministries (ASCM) in the Philippines and serves as their Regional Director for Africa. Dr. Ayuk is originally from Nigeria and has a passion for the continent. He has helped ASCM establish a missional presence by providing theological education throughout Africa. Consequently, he is very familiar with the contexts of Africa. In addition, because of his education and research, he offers us a deep theological expertise for a vital African theology of missions.

The concern for contextualization, inculturation and indigenization continues to be the bedrock of missions, even though, globalization and internationalization has become the order of the day. It is due to this reason that the present book is written to help prospective missionaries to Africa and elsewhere understand the dynamics of entering a new culture.

For Christianity to be more meaningful, it needs to be well rooted in the culture it is being brought to and relevant to the cultural setting.  Indigenizing Christianity is specifically geared towards bringing a better understanding of the Christian faith in the cultural context. In this case, the African context that draws attention to the African way of life and worldview.
